a day of creativity

I realized two things this weekend. One: I seriously need to learn how to use my Nikon. For real. Two: I’m glad I pursued graphic design instead of fine art. Let me elaborate…

Kristen and I had our first blog photo shoot this past Saturday. We both are in desperate need of head shots for our blogs, and I was like, “hey, I have a Nikon. We’re good.” So we ran around all over the place taking photos with my nice camera, except…I still suck at using it. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, which isn’t a good thing when shooting in the middle of the day. Anyway, we did get some good ones and had a great time! At least we learned a lot for our next one. Like how you should read the graffiti on a train before shooting it. These were a few silly outtakes:

Seriously, who writes “PORN” on a train? Twice? At least K10 looks fabulous. Be sure to stay tuned to see the results on her blog!

Later that evening, we met up with the rest of the gang to celebrate Robin’s birthday at Paint ‘N Pour. I’ve seen facebook photos of people doing this painting class, and after trying it myself, I see what all the hype is about! Even for someone like myself who is in the art field, it’s nice to let go and just have someone give simple instructions while sipping on some wine with friends. Before and after:

Great way to spend a Saturday night and bond with friends!
